Pediatric Comprehensive Eye Examinations

We care about the little eyes in your life!

Dr. Arneson is passionate about ensuring the little ones in your family get the appropriate care for their optimal vision performance.

Did you know that comprehensive eye exams can and should be done on infants and children? Children are the most vulnerable population to eye disease because they are often unable to communicate that there is a problem with their vision. Eye conditions like amblyopia can be invisible to the parent but cause serious learning deficits in the child if it is not detected and treated early.

Children with vision impairment problems can still see 20/20. 80% of learning is visual! If your child is having difficulty seeing clearly, their learning can be affected.

Early eye exams also are important because children need the following basic visual skills for learning not tested in basic pediatrician and school screenings:

  • Near vision
  • Distance vision
  • Eye teaming (binocularity) skills
  • Eye movement and tracking skills
  • Focusing system evaluation
  • Amblyopia

We provide eye exams for all ages starting as early as 6 months. Early detection of potential eye health and vision problems for our patients is critical for a lifetime of great vision.

How often should I bring my child in for an exam? According to the American Optometric Association:
